Karamea Davis, Farmer

Karamea Davis, Farmer

Karamea Davis is a farmer and kaitiaki from the Far North of New Zealand.

His forest block, Waingarara is a haven for native trees and medicinal plants. Karamea was involved with SOTK from the outset and, indeed, it was he who said “I want my trees to sing” , the phrase that set the film in motion.

Director Mathurin Molgat has a guitar built from recycled timber that was felled on Karamea’s property 100 years ago.
